Tricks | I was fooled in Thailand, so please don't fall for it again.
Less routine, more sincerity.
because I have a few friends around me who want to go to Thailand recently, I think I need to tell you the lesson I have learned from spending money in Thailand. (welcome to click on " read the original " at the end of the article to see the comments at the bottom of the original text. Under everyone's joint discussion, the scam is becoming clearer and clearer, and there are more and more reliable ways to travel.
1, Chiang Mai * bicycles
before I went to Thailand, I did a lot of homework. Many travel notes mentioned that there is no law to regulate these "motorcycle" tuk-tuk cars in Thailand, so exorbitant prices can be seen everywhere. In Chiang Mai, tuk-tuk cars and bicycles should be the main means of transportation. If you live in the ancient city, take a two-car ride to most places, one person is about 30-50 baht, bargain with the driver before taking the bus, kill to a reasonable range before going up. Almost everyone can grasp this point!
while I was trapped in Chiang Mai after getting off the bus, because we foreigners are not very familiar with Thai coins and can't tell the difference between 10B (B is Thai baht, same below) and 5B, some Thai drivers take advantage of this to make less change. For example, my friend and I cut to 30B, but when we got off, we gave the driver 100B. He threw down two stacks of money tied together with 10 1Bs (that is, 20B). Before we knew it, the driver ran away.
so this situation tells us that when you have your change wallet ready, you'd better give them the right amount of money.
later, reminded by the lovely Douyou @ Fiona, the landlord realized that I had confused the tuk-tuk car with the double car.
this is the tuk tuk car:

here are ffiona's very important travel tips:
"The two cars are made of those small pickup trucks, with two stools facing each other. It is of the nature of carpooling, sending different passengers separately. No matter how far away this kind of car is, the local people will give it 20 kilos, and they will charge a little more when it comes to foreign drivers. My experience is that when you get on the bus, directly tell the driver where to go, do not ask the price, get off according to their distance directly to the driver 20-40 years, he will think that you are knowledgeable, will not be difficult for you.
the tuk-tuk is also called a surprise car, which is modified with a small tricycle. For the kind that will be expensive, you must negotiate the price with the driver before getting on the bus. If you are only in the ancient city and Kingman Road, then don't take a seat. Two cars are enough. If you want to go to a place as far away as a central festival, you can negotiate the price in advance by tuk-tuk "
2, Bangkok * Taxi by the meter (taxi turning on the meter)
Taxi by Meter, which is very angry. You must ask the driver if you turn on the meter before getting on the bus (it is not necessarily marked with a taxi meter on the car! ). And do not need to go to some BTS stations to register, because the registration office and taxi are not in the same place, it is easy to find, it is better to directly stop the taxi to turn on the meter. Since I got on the bus first and then was told not to turn on the meter, the 40 baht journey charged me 200 baht. Once you get on the bus, the driver will refuse to bargain for various reasons such as "I don't understand English".
in Chiang Mai, it is generally good to take a two-cycle car. There may be more opportunities to take a taxi in Bangkok. If you find it troublesome, the BTS in Bangkok is also easy to ride.
3, Bangkok * sightseeing boat
sightseeing boat ticket
in Bangkok, you may need a boat to go to the Grand Palace, Wofo Temple, or River City. After you leave the Saphan Taksin station, walk to the dock, and then the staff will guide you to a specially designed boat for tourists, 40 baht one-way, 150 baht a day. Although the ticket price is not very expensive, it is not worth it. Every stop is very close. One day, I missed the last passenger boat, only to find that there are only three stops from River City to Saphan Taksin, ChaoPhrayaExpressBoat is enough, 15 baht. Therefore, if you need to take a boat frequently, consider a cheaper way.

4, Bangkok * Grand Palace
before going to the Grand Palace, I saw such a scam on the Internet:
the deception of a swindler near the Grand Palace in Bangkok: on your way to the Liming Temple in Wofo Temple, you will encounter someone accosting you and asking where you are going. Then they will tell you that there is an event that does not open the door that day or that it is closed an hour before you talk. When you hesitate and don't know what to do, they will guide you to other temples nearby and kindly call you a tuk-tuk taxi, only to find yourself taken to a jewelry store.
when someone tells you that the destination you are going to is not open today, it is good to check for yourself and be familiar with the route. Such a scam does exist. During the trip, I met someone who told me about her experience of being cheated.
I see the big palace with many people and little scenery.
when I got off the ship that day, I followed the sign "Grand Palace" to the "Grand Palace", so I avoided the scam of a tuk-tuk. With the crowd, I entered the main road leading to the Grand Palace. After passing through the crowded tour group, I finally bought a ticket for 500baht, but I didn't expect to change it. It took less than 10 minutes to get out of the circle.
although I don't know whether I was visiting the Grand Palace or whether I got to the right place but went the wrong way, according to my painful lesson, I would like to remind you that the Grand Palace is very large. Baidu said, "the Grand Palace is a large-scale ancient building complex (28) in central Bangkok, with a total area of 218400 square meters." So it usually takes more than half a day, if you finish shopping quickly, you must have made a mistake! Special reminder: the Grand Palace is open from 8:30 to 15:30, please go early.
after being reminded by everyone: many kind-hearted people told me that I should have gone to the Great Palace correctly, because the king of Thailand died last year and the coffin was still in the Palace, so many places are forbidden to visit. However, the normal visit is also in 1-2 hours, maybe I looked too fast, or some places were too careless to visit (for example, I don't remember seeing the Jade Buddha Temple). If I have a chance to go to Bangkok next time, I will visit the Grand Palace again to see where my bug is.
Our magnificent formal dresses for women over 40 make a great look for nearly any locale. We have a huge range of styles and cuts to choose from.
Thank you again for letting us know!
5, pigeons scam outside the Grand Palace in Bangkok
in addition, vendors at the place where pigeons are fed near the Grand Palace see the Chinese and say, "give it, give it." Don't answer it, it will ask you for money, whether you feed it or not, the asking price is 150B.
other scams are more or less the same, except that if you change places, you can search the Internet on your own, remember not to be swayed by strangers, and be wary of low prices or "you try first, you can leave if you don't like".
if I have been fooled, we should not be fooled again. We should not let those who specialize in deceiving tourists be too arrogant and look stupid. Although I felt that my IQ had not been online at that time. )
